In the early stages, our physicians generally start with prescription medications (pills or eye drops) designed to lower the eye pressure. We may also recommend a surgical procedure called laser trabeculoplasty. This is a low-risk and very effective surgical procedure done in our offices on an outpatient basis. It involves draining the internal eye fluid buildup to lower intraocular pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we don\u2019t have success with the above methods, our physicians recommend the more traditional surgery. Sometimes, patients are not good candidates for the above laser surgery, so we recommend the conventional surgical option, in which the surgeon creates a new opening for the eye fluid to continuously drain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
